“Tragically our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident,” Transgressive & Future Classic, SOPHIE’s U.K. management tweeted on the early morning of Jan. 30. “True to her spirituality, she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell.”
The cause of SOPHIE’s death is truly tragic, and the family is requesting privacy at this time
SOPHIE, who was born in Glasgow but based in Los Angeles, was an inspiration to all and her thousands of fans are devastated to see her go so suddenly. “She will always be here with us,” Transgressive continued, “The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy during this devastating time.”

Publicist Ludovica Ludinatrice and Founder of Modern Matters, dedicated an Instagram post to her on the day of SOPHIE’s death.
In this post, Ludinatrice describes SOPHIE as, “One of the most incredible musicians I’ve ever got to know and a pioneer but also an ICON of liberation.” She continued in the post, “All the great plans we have built together made me feel really ‘alive’ (as one of your new song was saying..), you are still here alive with your message and your music. Thank you. Rest In Peace.”
SOPHIE’s career initially took off in 2013
Sophie originally started on the famous music application, SoundCloud, back in 2011. However, in 2013, is when SOPHIE ultimately released a debut single “Nothing More to Say” and later a single “Bipp”, which both kick-started her music career.
From then, SOPHIE worked with numerous artists such as famous pop artists Charli XCII, Madonna, Fletcher, and others, producing music for a few of their songs. This truly got her career going, as multiple collaborations and her talented musical work eventually led her to become a Grammy-nominee.
“SOPHIE was a true inspiration,” said record label, Numbers.
“The World has lost an icon of liberation,” her record label tweeted, “We are devastated. Our thoughts are with SOPHIE’s family and friends at this time. Rest in peace.”
Although many are suffering from the devastating loss of SOPHIE, it’s evident that she has made a monumental effect on the music industry today, and she will always be remembered as a true “icon” to many.
