On January 5th, Page Six reported that divorce was “imminent” between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, saying that multiple sources close to Kim had confirmed “she’s done.”
While this may come as a shock, when looking at their tumultuous relationship over the past couple of years, it is easy to see where cracks formed and how the celebrity power couple drifted apart.
Different paths
Between Kanye’s mental health struggles and Kim’s quest to pursue a legal career, it seems as if the two don’t have much in common anymore. Kim is an advocate for prison reform and the politics she supports are rather progressive, while Kanye has become somewhat of a conservative pundit.
These political differences combined with Kanye’s public bashing of the Kardashian family have made it easy to see where this rift began. According to the original Page Six article, the couple has been living apart for some time now, with Kanye spending the holidays at the couple’s home in Wyoming while Kim stayed in their Calabasas home.
A little dose of reality
Their lifestyles had always clashed from the beginning as well. Kanye never liked being on the Kardashian’s reality show, and made this publicly known. Meanwhile, up until 2020 when it was announced that Keeping Up With the Kardashians would be coming to an end, the show was arguably the biggest part of Kim’s life.
Kim has also been seen without her wedding ring and is said to have hired high-profile divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who represented her during her public 2013 divorce from basketball player, Kris Humphries.

While Kimye’s divorce buzz has been happening for some time now, this seems to be the real deal. The couple was married in 2014 and share four children together: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. While it is unclear what the future holds for Kimye, we wish them both the best.
