Country music icon Dolly Parton has always made a positive impact on the world in whatever way she can, and this year has been no exception. Although it’s only March, Parton has already proved her commitment to helping others once again. Both last month and this month, the singer has had some notable highlights. Whenever the singer is trending on Twitter or Google, it’s surely because of some amazing thing she did. Most recently, she sent the internet into a frenzy with her adaptation of “Jolene” to promote COVID-19 vaccinations.

On Tuesday, Dolly Parton got vaccinated against COVID-19, and with it adapted her hit song, “Jolene” to attempt to persuade people to get vaccinated as soon as they can. “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate,” sang Parton in a video on Twitter. “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, ’cause once you’re dead then that’s a bit too late.”
The singer got a dose of the moderna vaccine, which she helped fund. Parton is keen on philanthropic efforts, and she saw a great opportunity to help the world by funding vaccine research. Fans of Parton sang her praises on Twitter and elsewhere, including Dr. Fauci. In a segment on CNN, Dr. Fauci commented on the singer’s video. “You gotta love Dolly Parton,” he said. “She’s giving a good message about people getting vaccinated, that’s just terrific, that’s what we need.” This is the most recent of the singer’s iconic moments, who’s had a lifetime of them.
Iconic moment #2: Declining a Statue Of Herself
In Feb. 2021, the singer humbly rejected a statue of herself that the state of Tennessee wanted to put in their capitol. According to NPR, this announcement came just a few weeks after the singer revealed that she was offered the Presidential Medal of Freedom twice but didn’t accept it. In a post across all of the singer’s social media, the singer issues her reasoning for declining this offer. “Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” writes the country star. When this happened, fans gave an outpouring of love to her saying that this is exactly the reason that they admire her. Dolly Parton is always thinking of the bigger picture, and wants to help people more than anything. “In the meantime, I’ll continue to try to do good work to make this great state proud,” writes Parton at the end of her explanation. Even though it’s barely three months into 2021, everytime the artist has trended on Twitter, she has brought nothing but a ray of sunshine to the world.
